Corella Confirm Album ‘A Beautiful World To Lose’ and Drop New Single
Manchester’s reigning indie powerhouses Corella are officially ready for round two. The four-piece has announced that their second studio album, A Beautiful World To Lose, will land on September 18th via FLG. Following the massive success of their 2024 debut Once Upon A Weekend – which clocked over 70 million streams and tore up the independent charts – the band is returning with a sharper, fiercer edge that swaps formative indie tropes for something far more potent.
To mark the news, Corella has shared ‘Simple Life’, a propulsive, feel-good anthem that serves as the perfect counterweight to their politically charged lead single ‘Rewire.’ Frontman Joel Smith describes the track as a "nostalgic indie" reminder to appreciate the small things amidst the chaos of a fast-moving world. The single is accompanied by a brilliant video featuring an ancient caveman navigating a modern Manchester weekend – complete with pub pints, ice cream, and a cheeky psychedelic intervention for some local ramblers.
Produced by Grammy-winner Jason Perry (Don Broco, The Molotovs), the album promises a "piercing glare" into the current state of the world while remaining intensely personal. From the Circa Waves-assisted anxiety of ‘Thunder Strike’ to the heavy vulnerability of ‘Lost A Friend,’ Corella are clearly writing with more grit and heart this time around. With main stage festival slots and tours alongside the Kaiser Chiefs already under their belt, this record looks set to be the knockout blow that cements their status as leaders of the new Northern guard.
