Denzel Goes Hardcore in New Song Hive Mind

Knocked Loose have released new single Hive Mind, a collaboration with Denzel Curry that leans heavily into the renewed crossover between hardcore, metal and hip-hop.

The track builds on the band’s established hardcore sound, combining dense riffs and breakdown-driven structure with Curry’s aggressive delivery. While unexpected on paper, the collaboration makes sense given Curry’s long-standing connection to heavier music. His previous performances, including a widely noted cover of Rage Against The Machine, have highlighted influences that sit comfortably alongside the intensity of modern hardcore.

Hive Mind arrives at a time when elements associated with nu-metal, particularly the fusion of rap vocals and heavy guitar-driven music, are resurfacing across alternative scenes. Rather than leaning on nostalgia, the track leans into the chaotic mix, with breakdowns, stops and classic Denzel rap verses. 

The music video also nods directly to the current hardcore landscape, with Curry appearing in a Speed t-shirt referencing one of biggest new comers in the scene.

As hardcore continues to seep into the mainstream, Knocked Loose are keeping the genre as heavy as ever but man it’s good to hear that tin sounding snare drum again!
