aespa Unleash ‘WDA (Whole Different Animal)’ Featuring G-DRAGON
Global K-pop phenomenon aespa have returned with explosive new single ‘WDA (Whole Different Animal) (feat. G-DRAGON)’, the first taste of their upcoming second full-length album LEMONADE, arriving on 29 May via SM Entertainment.
Driven by heavy synth basslines, sharp hip-hop production and an instantly addictive hook, ‘WDA’ marks another bold evolution for the quartet, KARINA, WINTER, GISELLE and NINGNING, who continue to push the boundaries of modern K-pop through their ambitious storytelling and futuristic aesthetic.
Since debuting in 2020 with breakout hit ‘Black Mamba’, aespa have built a global following thanks to their unique concept blending real-world identities with virtual avatars known as æ-aespa. Their music regularly explores themes of technology, identity and digital culture, and ‘WDA’ continues that narrative in striking fashion.
The accompanying music video expands on aespa’s “Complæxity” universe, presenting a world where reality and virtual imitation have become impossible to separate. Throughout the visual, distorted versions of the group multiply and fracture across digital spaces before aespa reclaim their own identities amid the chaos.
A major talking point surrounding the release is the involvement of G-DRAGON. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in K-pop history, the BIGBANG leader helped shape the global rise of Korean pop music through his genre-defying artistry, fashion influence and innovative production style. His unmistakable rap delivery brings an added intensity to ‘WDA’, creating a high-profile collaboration that bridges generations of K-pop.
LEMONADE is set for release on 29 May at 1PM KST and promises to showcase aespa’s broadest musical palette yet, spanning electronic dance, hip-hop, rock and R&B pop influences.
Alongside the album launch, aespa will also embark on their 2026-27 SYNK: COMPLæXITY world tour, bringing their acclaimed live production to arenas across the globe.
