KNEECAP recruit Killer Mike for new version of “Smugglers & Scholars”

Irish rap provocateurs KNEECAP have recruited Killer Mike for a newly released version of “Smugglers & Scholars”, landing today as part of a limited deluxe edition release. The collaboration feels like a natural fit after KNEECAP spent the last year building serious momentum Stateside, with the Atlanta MC seemingly drawn to the track’s politically charged edge and grimy production.

What makes Killer Mike’s appearance hit so hard is how perfectly the song already aligns with the Run the Jewels aesthetic, militant beats, revolutionary themes and razor-sharp anti-establishment bars. Even before Mike steps in, the line “getting guns with American dollars” sounds tailor-made for his world of confrontational, socially conscious rap. Originally released earlier this year, “Smugglers & Scholars” framed Ireland’s revolutionary history through a modern lens, but with Killer Mike onboard the track now carries an even heavier sense of transatlantic solidarity and defiance.
