NMM had the pleasure of witnessing TOOTHPASTE blow the eardrums of every crowd member at their EP launch party at Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch last week. While undoubtedly still raw, the London based band have created a dreamy soundscape punctuated with ferocious intensity.

Whilst drawing obvious comparisons to shoegaze legends Slowdive, TOOTHPASTE manage to stand out by balancing thoughtful lyrics, a melancholic tone and fantastic production. The EP shows off its best with opener “Lose”, which closes with a roaring two-minute instrumental prepping us perfectly for the melodic intro into “Hazlewood”. Loud, talented and clearly having loads of fun.
